My word 2007 or excel 2007 active screen become inactive

Hi,
When I open any of Office 2007 products, after a short while the active
screen becomes inactive. I am not able to type anything.
I have to press the blue bar at the top to make it active and thereafter it
permits me to type or update further. This happens frequently sat after every
30 sec or so.

request your help to sort this out.
