My Work View with Text Field Added

Running Project Server 2007 with SP 1:

We have a need to include task information that is being stored in a text
field into a custom My Work View (My Tasks). The data (content of the field)
is not being displayed when the My Work view is used to view My Tasks.

The content of this text field is being displayed on a custom Project View
where the text field has been included.

I have tried creating an Enterprise Custom Text field with the same results.

Is this a "bug" or am I doing something wrong?

In the custom field properties ensure you have checked the box to allow the
value to roll down to the assignment level.

The Problem Continues

I just discovered that once a user submits work against a task that is
displaying this custom text field that the contents of this field disappears.
Nothing that I have tried brings this content back. I accepted the
submitted work and republished the schedule and the contents of this field
does not return.

Any further suggestions?
