Mystery attachments

BlankCorresponding with my brother recently via Outlook Express he advises
that my last three messages sent over a period of 14/21 days have all been
accompanied by an attachment called ATT 00021 which he has been unable to
open.
I did not consciously send him these attachments with my emails and the
copies in my 'sent' box show no such items.
Is anyone able to through any light on what these attachments are?

So does your brother use Outlook EXPRESS and you use Outlook? Or are
you also using Outlook EXPRESS? There is no "express" in the name of
this newsgroup. Outlook is discussed in this newsgroup, not Outlook
EXPRESS which is discussed in a different newsgroup.

If you are using Outlook, did you switch or configure it to use RTF
(Rich-Text Formatting) when composing new e-mails? Only Outlook can
understand that Microsoft proprietary format. No other e-mail clients
understand RTF, including Outlook EXPRESS. RTF should only be used when
the recipient is known to also use Outlook and also within the same
Exchange mail server organization; otherwise, send using plain-text or
HTML format.

See the section "Sending and Receiving Concerns" as to why there was an
ATT<number> attachment.
