long time Outlook Express user recently switched to
Outlook 2002. When I send an email to my wife two
options pop up. One is an email address that has been
gone for some time. The other is the current one. I
have tried to find the old one many times to delete it
and I cannot. It's not in the "contacts" folder. It's
not in the address book. Any guidance?

thanks Russ that did the trick! It was pretty
frustrating to periodically send email to an address I no
longer had in my contact list/address book.

Pop up where and when? If you can't find in in Contacts it is probably in
the autocompletion cache. Remove individual addresses from the
autocompletion cache by highlighting the entry when presented in the
suggested names list (use your arrow key to migrate to the entry) and then
hitting your Delete key before you tab out of the field. To clear the entire
cache, follow the instructions here:
