I'm getting a #N/A error in formulas that links to closed
workbooks.
Column A in a closed workbook (book2) has a list of names
in last, first format. In an open workbook (book1) a
column A has a simple "if" formula that says if the same
cell in the closed workbook contains "" then show ""
otherwise show contents of same cell in closed workbook.
In many cases the formula returns a #N/A for cells with
valid data in them. The error seems to be specific to
certain names and sometimes changing the spelling or case
of the name in the closed workbook fixes the problem,
sometimes not. If I open the closed workbook all the
errors clear and data shows correctly until the next time
I refresh the links with it closed.
Why if the formula is correct and the data in the closed
book is valid would this happen on some entries and not
others and how do I correct this? I can't just hide the
error I need the data. HELP!!!
