Kesari Suresh

Hi
Pleas help me to insert a NA or N/A value in finish field.
Wheni first create a task i want my task finish and start dates to be null,
so that i can enter them manually through PWA.
Is this possible.

Please help me.

Regards,
Kesari Suresh.

Hi Kesari Suresh,

I'm afraid neither the start nor the finish fields can be null in
Project. Perhaps what you are seeking is the [Actual Start] and [Actual
Finish] fields. They are NA until tracking data is supplied to the
project file.

You can define 2 Enterprise date fields. The default for those is NA.
Now define a macro that when accepting the dates and opening the project in
the Professional (on open project event) those dates are copied to
Start/Finish fields.

Hi Kesari Suresh,

From your description I think you are looking for Baseline data. Before
your resources begin to supply you with Actual Data, save a baseline in
Project Professional. (Tools > Tracking > Save Baseline.) This will
copy your planned start and finish dates from the schedule into Baseline
Start and Baseline Finish.

As your resource begin to modify Actual Start and Actual Finish through
tracking, you can compare Baseline Start to Actual Start through the
Start Variance field and Baseline Finish to Actual Finish through the
Finish Variance field.

Copy by macro the start and finish dated to Enterprise date fields.
Use the record button to build the macro. as simple as that....

Hi
my issue would not be solved with baseline because there are chances that
the finish dates may be changed again and again. i believe the macro stuff
might work but i have no experience in writing macros. Can any one help me in
providing the steps to write a macro for solving this problem. if this is
done i can be relieved a lot.

Thanks in advance,
kesari suresh.
