Name a row/column

You can't. best you can do is to create column or row
headings in the first row/column.

Select the column you want to name. Then Insert>Name>Define and give it a name

Or another quick way is to select the column, if you selected column D you will see D1 in the left corner above the spread sheet. Click on the D1, type the name, and hit enter

Keep in mind that the column headings cannot be changed from A,B,C.. (or 1, 2, 3, .. if you use R1C1 reference styles)
