Name-Conflict in Workspace

M

Maxi

Hello,

I use Groove Office 3.1 and had accepted an invitation.

When I open the WorkSpace, then the ID from my collegue is red.

I click on the Name (ID) and then use the link "Resolve Name
Conflict".

In the Display is two names:
one name is in "Workspace...", the other name is "Known Groove
Contact".

I had deleted all IDs in Lounchbar/Contacts, I had deleted all
Message in History, but I can not resolve this Problem.

How can I resolved this?

Regards
Maximilian

In the Groove launchbar, click on "Options" menu, then "Contact
Manager". In the left list, you should find the 2 identities with the
same name (source of the conflict).

Choose the wrong/former one, click "Properties" button, then "More" then
"Alias..." Fill in the text box with an alias. For example:
"<NameOfYourContact> - OLD" and validate.

Your conflict should be fixed.

Hi Fabrice,

thanks for your information, it is ok now.

but who save groove the contacts? we are work in many smal groups and all
groups have this problem.

its better when we can delete the wrong contacts bevor replicate on all
members in the groups

can I find the wrong contacts in our different engagements?

regards,
maximilian

If your accounts are managed by a Groove Server Manager (Groove
Enterprises Services or on-site servers) and that your former/wrong
account still exists in your domain member list, rename it. (Add a "old"
suffix for example). This modification will be propagated to all users
and conflict will be automaticcaly removed.

Hi Fabrice,

we have a groove server manager and I think, the problem comes from
different fingerprints.

I have checked the usernames with nameconflict and find out that this user
we had removed and new imported in the groove server manager.

This users becomes new fingerprint after import and the old and new
fingerprint is existing in the contacts.

Many user have now two or more different fingerprint since the testphase in
the contactlist on different computer.

When I must for all user change the name (or authentificate on all different
engagement), then I have a problem. Not all groups have the same engagement
and the computers from my collegues is often not in our office.

Can I write a tool in grrove to find all user with more than one fingerprint
and same id on the different computer?

Is this a way to solved the problem?

Thanks for your help to me and sorry for my bad english.

Hi Maximilian,

Each user populated in the Groove Server Manager has its own unique
account. (The digital fingerprint is a consequence of this uniqueness)
The fact to import users with the same name or email address does not
mean that you will get a single Groove user...

If your former Groove user is removed from Groove Server Manager, the
only mean to resolve conflict is to ask each member to manually resolve
it for his own account (As said in one of my previous posting, identify
the current/right Groove user and create an alias on the former/wrong one)

Please note that contacts are linked to a Groove account, not a
computer. If some of your users run Groove on several computers, they
will have to do this resolution "only" on one computer. The aliases
created on one computer will be propagated on other computers hosting
the same account.

Regarding the fact to create a tool to analyse contacts, it is possible
to create an application (using Groove Web Services) that lists all
contacts owned by a Groove account. You will be able to read contact's
informations, create new contacts. Unfortunately, you won't be able to
modify contact's information (such as define an alias) or delete
contatcs. It won't help you to fix this problem...
