Name does not appear with comments

O

Orrie

Hi,

I'm using Word 2002 that came preinstalled with MS Works on my new computer.
When I insert comments, my name or initials do not appear at the comment
point in the text as they do in Word 2000 on my old computer. Only the
vertical brackets that usually surround a commenter's initials appear with
nothing between them.

Both programs have the same User Settings. Is there a setting I should make
or change to have my name or initials appear? Does this function reside in
Office, rather than in Word itself?

Thank you.

Have you entered your name and initials on the User Information tab of Tools
| Options?

Thanks for your reply, Suzanne.

Yes, my name and initials are in the User Information, but neither appears
with comments. I have used the Comments feature in older versions of Word
without a problem, and so far, I cannot find any difference in the setup of
my old Word 2000, where it works, and Word 2002, where it doesn't.

Is it significant that my copy of Word 2002 came pre-installed as part of MS
Works in my Dell WinXP computer? The copy of Word 2000 is part of the Office
2000 Suite on my old Win98SE computer.

In my version the comment balloon itself doesn't show any user information,
but when you mouse over it, you get user info, date, and time. In the
reviewing pane, the reviewer name and the date and time are shown on the
title bar of the comment.
