#name? error on a form

Howdy. I am brand new to Access, up until a week ago, I didn't even know how
to start it up, it's been on my laptop for about 4 years!!!!

I am creating a document for work that is (hopefully) going to automate a
process that is done manually at the moment but I am completely stuck on
something.

I am trying to put a command button into it so when whoever loads up the
database, this is the first thing that they see with a big GO!! button that
starts the Macro, I also want to put 2 or 3 lines of very simple text
instructions i.e. Copy and paste X document to Y before you begin etc etc.
My problem is that, after writing the text in Design View on the form,
whenever I load the database up, instead of showing the text, all it has is a
series of #NAME? errors where the text should be.

I am completely baffled and am nearing the point of binning the whole idea
and burning my laptop. Can anyone help?

p.s - please be gentle, I am only new!!!!

Don't worry, we don't bite. Well, most of us don't. <g>

What kind of control are you using to display your instructions? I wonder
if you are using a text box and entering the text in the control's
ControlSource property. That would certainly give you #Name errors, as
Access would be trying to interpret your text as the name of a data field.

For static text, use a Label control, and enter the text in the control's
Caption property.

ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!!! That has fixed it. I had done it as a text box
rather than a label, but it is perfect now.

As I said, I am really really new to this so your help is really appreciated.
