"name or path not valid" can this be fixed?

The document name or path is not valid. Try these
suggestions:
* Check the file permissions for the document or drive.
* Use the File Open dialog box to locate the document.
(path\file name)


Using Word 2000 (9.0.3821 SR-1)I've received this message
several times on different files. They are not hypertext.
They don't have frames. They aren't using mail merge.
They are files that have been opened and used several
times with out a problem before coming up with this
error. After this error, nothing seems to fix them.

Can anyone shed any light on this: what causes it and how
to fix it?
