Named used in Revisions

Neil Harley

Hi.

We’ve rolled-out Windows XP / Office XP to 800 pc’s using an MSI and we now have a problem which we'd like to fix.

When users use Word’s Revision feature the revisions are shown with the wrong name. Word is using the name of the guy who created the MSI so he made a mistake somewhere along the line.

What we’d like to know is if there is any way of stripping the registry (or anywhere else it's stored) of this guy’s name? We want to end up with a situation so when users use Word it shows their name as being the person who made those revisions and not the person who created the MSI?

Also, would we have to recreate the MSI because the clients all have read access to it so Office can repair itself.

Any websites helping out with this would be appreciated.

Thanks

Registry key is an encoded, binary key, so I'm not sure what can be done from the
network admin's side, by way of a Policy. You might find more information in the
Office Resource Kit. And I'd try asking in the word.setup.networking newsgroup or
an Office setup newsgroup, where you're more likely to find people who do this
kind of thing.
