Names aren't auto-filling as usual; have used names in last month

I am trying to type an email message to someone that I have been in contact
with in the last month and the name is not auto-filling in the TO tab. My
auto complete is on; I checked that. Any ideas on why the name is not
auto-filling as usual?

The first thought that comes to mind is the very well documented fact that
autocompletion does not use your Contacts. Never has. Never will. The
autocompletion cache is completely separate from your Contacts and contains
only your prior recipients. --

Because it is just a cache; they are not there permanently.
