names fields scrambled

This is not the usual question about displaying lastname, firstname.

I'm using Outlook2007. When I create a new contact and type a name into the
"Full Name" field, it populates the "File As" backwards, and when I go to the
Show>NamesFields the first name and last name are reversed. If I correct the
names manually in the Show>NamesFields screen, so that the first name is in
the first name field and the last name in the last name field, it scrambles
them backwards in the Full Name and Display Name. Going into
Tools>AccountSettings>AddressBooks>OutlookAddressBook>ShowNamesBy... does not
fix the problem.

These views have nothing to do with the Outlook Address Book view.
Examine what settings you chose for the Full Name and File As fields.
Outlook is simply doing what you told it to.
