Naming a list, Excel 2003

The VLookup function allows the user to specify a lookup table via "a
range or range name, such as a Database or a List". I've read up on
lists, but haven't been able to find how to name one. Can this be
done in Excel 2003?

Easiest may be to simply highlight the table and type in a name in the name
box to the left of the formula box.

Thanks, Don. I wanted to name the list rather than the range.
Because the list boundaries intelligently expand and shrink as a add/
delete rows. I did it yesterday, but can't quite remember how. I
think I clicked on the list boundary, which highlighted the whole
list. Then I named it as you described.

Use a DEFINED name using OFFSET (look in the help index)
insert>name>define>name it myrng
in the refers to box
=offset($a$1,0,0,counta($a:$a),12)
