Naming cells

Hi, from the help section I see that you can name each
cell on an excel page but the name remains hidden until
you click on the letter above each cell. Is there a way
to replace the letters (A B C etc) over each cell with
an actual typed name or do I have to put descriptive
names on line one (which is what I'm doing now) ?

Nope.

You can simulate it, but it may make working with
formulas a bit difficult depending on where you look
when you create them.

A1: (empty)
B1: 'description
C1: Value
A2: =ROW()-1
B2: 'widgets
C2: 300

Use the fill-handle to copy A2 downward and you will see
your simulated row numbers for the table not for the
spreadsheet.
