Navagation Bar Links Missing on Home Page

All of a sudden, the navagation bar links on the home page
disappeared. In the place where the links used to be is
an error message: [Add the referenced page to the
Navigation view to display hyperlinks here].

I checked, the page is definitely already in the
navagation view.

The microsoft knowledge base has info on a similar problem
when the links do not appear when published, but this
problem happened on the desktop first.

Any ideas?

Make sure your home page file name is that required by your host and it has the Home Icon in it in Nav view
