Navigation bars not showing in browser after publishing intranet

I am using a windows xp professional computer to host an intranet. I use
Frontpage to design the site. I am using shared border feature. When I
publish, link navigations bars don't show in a browser when I view the
published page in a browser. When I am publishing, the following message
comes up.
'The following pages in your website contain link bars or navigation bars
that use new navigation options. They will not display properly because the
server you are pubishing to does not suppot these features. To enable link
bars, publish your website to a server running the latest version of
frontpage server extensions or sharepoint services.'
I checked the microsoft website for help and the Technet site has advice on
how to intstall sharepoint from the XP cd. However, when I tried to, there
was no sharepoint folder in the XP cd.
How can I resolve this problem? The computer hosting the intranet has
Frontpage 2000 server extensions. Help me with either upgrading this or
installing sharepoint so I can run the intranet smoothly.
Thanks.

Your choice of navigation bar needs FrontPage2002 extensions. However,
these are no longer available for Windows XP or earlier operating
systems. Your choices are:
1) Use Windows 2003 Server to host your site - 2002 extensions are on
the installation CD.
2) Use Windows 2008 Server (FP 2002 extensions for Win2008 can be
obtained from http://www.rtr.com/fpse/ )
3) Change your navigation to use navigation bars compatible with FP2000
extensions. Avoiding custom link bars, a custom theme or any text link
(other than links resembling [ link text ] [ next link ] ) will be
compatible.

Note that Windows XP Pro limits the web site to 10 simultaneous
connections - a single user can use more than 10 connections to view a
web page.

SharePoint requires Windows 2003 Server, or later.

Ronx,
Ours is just a small company. I am not thinking of buying the 2003 server
just for the purpose of the intranet. That's why I wanted to just create a
smalll intranet. I am wondering why microsoft would discontinue FPSE for XP
while while they are still supporting XP. Is there any way I can find the
download anywhere?

The FPSE are part of the Office Family, and MS made the decision to stop
support.

No, they are not available anywhere (legally) for download.

I would like to know how to change the navigation as in your point No. 3
3) Change your navigation to use navigation bars compatible with FP2000
extensions. Avoiding custom link bars, a custom theme or any text link
(other than links resembling [ link text ] [ next link ] ) will be
compatible.

Don't use custom link bars
Don't use a theme for link bars other than the default theme for the
page.
Don't use any text link bars that use bullets or pipes ( | ) as link
separators.

Or build your own navigation instead of using the FrontPage navigation
view.
Some ideas for this are at:
