Navigation Pane Customization

Eli

I have an ADP that I'm working with and I'm trying to create custom
Categories and Groups in the Navigation Pane, but the buttons to add new
items are all disabled.

I am right-clicking the Navigation Pane and selecting Navigation Options.
If I do this from a regular Access database, it all works, but it seems that
this feature is not available for ADPs.

If anyone knows anything about this, I would really appreciate any info you
can throw my way.

I have _NO_PROBLEM_ crating groups on the left hand side

if you're talking about the bar on the right-- for example where you'd
see New Database, Project (existing Data), etc??

then you'd need to look at Visual Studio Tools for Office (VSTO)

Basically-- in order to automate Access using this new fangled dotnet
crap you need to buy 2 seperate products-- visual studio and vsto

don't you miss the good old days when we could program MS Access using
MS Access?

Thanks for the response.

I just want to double check and make sure you're doing the same thing I am
because I cannot create the Groups and Categories like you can even when I
create a new ADP file.

And yeah, I'm talking about the bar on the left, which is now called the
Navigation Pane in Access 2007, NOT the bar on the right.

1. I'm using Access 2007

2. I'm using and ADP file....NOT and ACCDB file.

3. I CAN create Groups and Categories when using an ACCDB file.

4. I CANNOT create Groups and Categories when using and ADP file.

So let me know when you get a chance if you are in fact using an ADP file
and are able to create Groups and Categories.

Thanks again.

oh sorry I thought you were 2003

my 2007 trial jsut expired; I'm probably months away from getting
MSDN ;(

I did just get my DBA cert though; doesn't that qualify for a MSDN
price reduction?

anyone?

thanks
