Navigation Pane Empty

I created a database in access 2003 and brought it into access 2007. I try
to display the queries and tables in the Navigation pane but nothing appears.
How can I get these to appear? I need to edit a table.

Hi Joe,

Do they show in Access 2003? Right-click on the "All Access Objects"
title and play around with the various settings you find there. If they were
hidden somehow go to the "Navigation Options..." item. Click on "Object
Type" and make sure all of the object types are selected. If that does not
help, post more specifics. Such as what you mean by "brought it into Access
2007.". Does that mean you simply opened it, converted it or imported it?

Hi Clifford

I go to Navigation Options and everything is checked - Show Hidden, Show
System, Show Search. However there is nothing listed in the Categories Box
above. I tried to add a custom category named Object Type and Access told me
that there already was a category named Object Type. Everything is in the
database but the Tables, Queries, Forms etc. don't appear where they should
so I am not able to edit them.

I created the db in 2003 then Opened it in 2007. I did a Save As 2007 and
that doesn't show them either.

I opened the file with Access 2003 and the Tables, Queries Forms, etc. shows
up in the Database Window.

I had an AutoExec macro to open a form in the file. I thought perhaps that
may have had something to do with it so I removed it and opened the file in
2007 and no difference.

Hi Joe,

By default there should be three categories: "Tables and Related
Views", "Object Type" and "Custom". Odd that they do not show, but if you
try to add it complains. Time to find out it the installation of Access is
defective. If you create an entirely new database and create a table in it,
does it show? How about a form? If not, then it is not specific to the one
databased; you could try a reinstall.

Have you tried right clicking on the top tiltle bar of the navigation pane
and selecting show all groups on the popup menu?

If I create a new database in 2007 everything is as it should be; table
reports and queries show up in the nav pane. So it appears that the
installation is ok. Also it behaves the same way on two different PCs. And
it appears that the problem is specific to this one database.

Show all Groups is Grayed Out.

Have you tried right clicking on the top tiltle bar of the navigation pane
and selecting show all groups on the popup menu?

Hi Joe,

Odd that a database can impact it that way. Some kind of obscure
security setting maybe? Try a compact and repair. If that does not work,
try creating a new database and importing all of the objects. (Make sure to
set any references in the VBA Editor that are set in the original.)

Okay, then I suspect you have hidden objects. Go into the database optons
and turn on show hidden objects. If it is on already turn it off and say
okay until back to normal access windows and then go back and turn on show
hidden objects. You should now see the objects but they will be greyed out.
Right click on that object type title bar and select unhide. If this
doesn't work I don't know. Might have to do some more reading. Pete

If your database is not sensitive or you can make it that way I would like
you to send it to me so I can see what is going on. As your not a spam

Clifford - It Worked.

I created a new blank database in Access 2007 and Imported my 2003 database
into it and everything now shows up on the Navigation Pane.
