Navigation Pane options - favorites and shortcuts.

I prefer to generate a concise list of my most used folders and tools and
remove all other items until they are needed. In Outlook XP, this was
possible by using the shortcuts and thumbtacking the shortcuts for permanent
display, and then emoving the long list of mail folders and other tools.
Now, It appears that this cannot be done. Although I can create a shortcut
list, it apparently cannot be made the default - the long list of folders
always shows up, necessitating a click of the shortcuts button to make things
"right".
The favortie folders list comes close to providing the shortcut function but
it cannot include shortcuts to contacts or the calendar.
Thus, I agree that you have taken a step backwards.

What about customizing your Oulook Today page by "Choose Folders."? This
generates a list of folder on OL Today page, which can include Calendar,
etc....

Does that accomplish what you want?

Ken -
Thanks for the suggestion. No, it doesn't accomplish what I want because
the other folders or functions supplants the Outlook today page when they are
selected, so that one has to then click to open the Outlook Today page to get
to another folder or function. In Outlook XP with the navigation set up as I
indicated, the short list of preferred navigation locations was always at the
left and available.
