Need a microsoft word and excel for windows 98

frustrated mom

I bought a refurbished computer with a bare bones windows 98 operating system
for my daughter. She is at a University where she is receiving information
from professors in word and excel. Is it possible to still buy word and
excel for windows 98? And is it possible to buy it for under $50?

frustrated mom,
You may want to check ebay for Office 2000 for a corresponding price range.
Or better call the "University", they should have an academic version
available at Student prices in the U sponsored bookstore. Possibly Office XP
which will run on an updated Windows 98 system.
Luck to you...

Try a google search for Excel and Word. I don't believe you will find legal
copies for $50

Ability Office is a cheaper alternative to office and supports Word (.DOC)
Excel (.XLS) formats, it will run on windows 98 takes up less disk space.

Check the college book computer shop they may have it thier very a
very cheap price. As them to see if it will run on windows 98/

There is a free Excel word & free word viewer.

You can buy Microsoft7.0 works this should be able to read it.
However trnsferring Documents from word to works and back changing

In addition to looking at Works, consider OpenOffice
(www.openoffice.org) which is very high-quality software and free of cost.

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.
