Need a template for Avery printer labels #5351

Avery 5351 is not one of the options on the label menu. I've tried the Rank
Xerox 3x11 label, which seems the closest, but the layout doesn't work. Help!

Sometimes you need to create your own templates. This looks like one of
those label sizes that will force you to do so.

According to Avery's product page,
http://www.avery.com/us/Main?action=product.Details&catalogcode=WEB01&productcode=5354,
that's a copier label rather than a printer label, the main difference
being the lack of any margins at the edges of the page. Word doesn't
usually include copier layouts in the Labels dialog.

You can define a custom label. In the label options dialog, click the
New Label button. Fill in the definition as follows:

Label name: 5351
Top margin: 0"
Left margin: 0"
Vertical pitch: 1"
Horizontal pitch: 2.81"
Label height: 1"
Label width: 2.81"
Number across: 3
Number down: 11

In the Label dialog, click the New Document button. In the document,
go to Format > Borders and Shading and turn on all the table's cell
borders. Print the page, and hold it and a label sheet up to a light
to see whether the table cells match the labels. You may need to tweak
the settings, particularly the horizontal pitch. When you have a
match, remove the borders and save the document as a template.
