Need access to combobox displayvalue after change

I would like to set the contents of another field in the form based on the
_displayvalue_ of a comboxcontrol. I can do it based on the value but am
unable to access the displayvalue. Actually I do understand how to get to
the data, but have found no way to access the controls of a form.

Any tips?
