Need advice-Upgrade 2003 to 2007?

Hi, I'm a university prof and must keep up with my students. Currently
running Microsoft Pro 2003 & depend heavily on all of its components--Word,
Outlook, Excel, etc. OS is Windows XP Pro SP3. I am a qualified educational
customer and am ready to buy Office Professional 2007 APA & MLA Edition. Will
greatly appreciate answers to the following questions as I can't afford the
time to deal with problems. (1) Must I completely uninstall 2003 before
installing 2007 (I won't need 2003 anymore)? (2) I have tons of valuable 2003
files (Word, Excel, Access, etc.), will there be compatibility problems? (3)
Outlook is my life & contains valuable student records, grades, attachments,
etc. I usually just copy the .pst file between laptop & desktop & HD backup
using the C:\Documents and Settings\My Name\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook path--can I just copy the 2003 .pst version to 2007
without losing anything? Thank you, sorry for the length.

1) Last time I did an upgrade I followed the prompts & 2007 upgraded my 2003
instalation
2) I have had no problems opening old format data files, both 2003 & 2000
file types
3) If you follow the upgrade, OL2007 would under normal circumstances
connect your origonal 2003 pst file

As in all cases a backup of data is wise

If you are doing a full instal and not an upgrade ( which would be the better
choice) it is best to uninstall first. Also there were some compatibility
problems with documents being done between 03 and 07 but microsoft supplied a
fix for it. If you are planning on a clean install save any info you wanted
from the old program into one folder on your drive. After installing 07 you
can get them out of the folder and use as you wish.
