Need Assistance with Data Definition Query - Alter colum

Hi -
I'm working with a table that is the product of a Make Table query. The table has a column - Credits - that is a number. When the table is created, and I look at the Field Properties of the Credits column, the Field Size is Decimal, and the Format is blank. I'd like the Format to be fixed. Can I use a Data Definition query to Alter the column's format to Fixed? Or is there another way to set this attribute when the original Make Table query is run? I know it's a silly thing to automate, except that this table is recreated repeatedly, and I don't want to have to remember to into Design view every time I recreate it and reset this attribute
