Need basics for setting up iSync/Address Bookto Sync with Exchange'07

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel
Email Client: Exchange

My goal is to use a 3rd party business card scanner to scan cards into Address Book. I then want to use the sync to Exchange feature to copy/move those new contacts to Exchange.

1) Does this feature actually work?
2) Does it work with Exchange 2007?
3) Does address book need to be open for the sync to happen?
4) Do you have to point address book to where contacts should be placed in Exchange?
5) Apple's online help gave instructions on how to sync manually. I tried this to test it out but got stuck. The promised menu item never appeared, and when I tried to manually sync, it asked for a bluetooth device.

Is there a simple way to do this? Is there a third party app? Basically, I am stuck because all of the card scanner programs only scan into their own application or to Address Book

You mean AB to Entourage Sync?? It's buggy as hell. It worls for some,
and induces duplications for others. No one really knows why at this
point (but stay away from using the Middle Initial field in the System
Address Book)
2) Does it work with Exchange 2007?

ENtourage to Exchange 2007 sync works.
3) Does address book need to be open for the sync to happen?
Nope.

4) Do you have to point address book to where contacts should be placed
in Exchange?

Entourage lets you select the address book to use for the Sync. (either
On My COmputer or the one associated witht he Exchange account)
5) Apple's online help gave instructions on how to sync manually. I
tried this to test it out but got stuck. The promised menu item never

???
You mean sync straight from the System Address book to Exchange?? THat's
quite a different story.

You can use SyncServices.
To avoid problems you could even scan, turn on SYnc Services and when
your data is in, turn it off.

After all, since Syncing is not really the main issue for you, you could
even avoid Sync Services altogether. Drag the contacts to the desktop to
create a .vcf and import these straight into your address book in
Entourage.
