Need converters for _old_ versions of Word

V

Van Knowles

Believe it or not, I have some documents I saved many
moons ago with Word 5 (DOS).

I know there used to be a converter that you could
download to allow Word 97 to read these old documents.

Since I still have a copy of Word 97, I'm hoping someone
can point me to the converter that allows it to open Word
5 DOS documents properly. It appears that Microsoft
doesn't have it posted any more.

Thanks!

Hi Van,

If you do a search in Google for Word DOS Convert, you will come up with
quite a few likely possibilities.

Please post any further questions or followup to the newsgroups for the
benefit of others who may be interested. Unsolicited questions forwarded
directly to me will only be answered on a paid consulting basis.

Hope this helps

Thanks, Doug!

I found what I wanted on the web site of a British
university. (Universities can be very helpful places.)

What is needed is the file wdsupcnv.exe, which installs
the supplemental converters for Word97. Unfortunately, it
appears that Microsoft no longer provides this as a
download.
