Need db software to track customer special orders in retail store

Does anyone know of a template or software that is designed to track the
creation of a customer special order in a retail store envionment?

Not sure how much detail you're looking for, but it goes something like this:
We are a retail sporting goods store that often needs to order special
specific product for our customers and would like to keep track of it from
beginning of the process to the end. We would place the order for the
customer from one of a number of vendors, once the product is receievd into
the store, we would contact the customer via telephone or e-mail and advise
them that the product had arrived.

Rough fields
1) customers complete contact data including e-mail address
2) record current date
3)Record specific data of the product they are ordering...style, colour,
size, SKU, vendor, price, expected delivery date, actual delievry date,
purchase order number, comments
4) Record action we took on this file: Customer contact 1st try, 2nd try,
3rd try and how they were contacted,

Steve does indeed have a history of providing some useful information before
going back to his old ways. Be advised, and proceed with caution.
Regarding his suggested table design, one observation is that Vendor would
be relevant to the line item (OrderDetail) rather than the entire order if a
customer's order may comprise items from several vendors.
TblHowCustomerContacted may be an extra step you don't really need. A value
list may be enough, although there's no harm to using a lookup table. The
trouble with any system is that if a contact method is not on the list you
will need a way to add it. It's not that hard to do, but it is another
step.

My recollection is that (probably in a USENET newsgroup), that Gramelspacher
has leapt to Steve's defense. If Michael is not a Steve sockpupper, or
vice-versa, it seems that he is a person so gullible as to defend the
indefensible, perhaps Steve's best buddy. If I am wrong, then I apologize
for insulting Michael by saying that he is Steve. However, a family history
site doesn't prove "independence".
