Need help in doing a football prediction table

Every year my work colleagues and I do a Premier league football
prediction game, in that you have to predict the final league table i.e
Arsenal 1st, Chelsea 2nd etc Points are awarded for how accurate peoples
predictions are i.e 5 points for spot on, 4 points for one away, 3
points for 2 away etc.

I've been doing the calculations by hand but it's a time consuming
business. How would it be done on excel?

I assume that you have to assign values to the actual league Arsenal=1,
Chelsea=2 etc and values to the forecast then do a sum of the
differences, but how?

TIA

Simple sum of differences can be laid out as

Place John
Arsenal 1 1
Chelsea 2 3
Charlton 5 12
Man U 4 2
10

formula for the sum is
=SUM(ABS(B7:B10-C7:C10)) entered as an array i.e. Ctl +
Shift + Enter.

then you'll be ableto get back to work?

Good morning, Dave. (seems I've heard that before).
Write me and I'll see what I can do for you. Any 'new'
information that will assist others will be posted here.
