Need help setting up a tracking system

Any ideas on how best to use OneNote together with Outlook to keep track of
job applications and resume submissions in order to follow-up properly and
keep track of what I submitted to whom and when?

Probably keep it simple and ON can be very effective here. You can set up a
table, with each row being one followup item, columns for each piece of info
you are tracking. If each row has a company name (all in a single column),
then you can tag those for followup, with a checkbox tag, or you can have
tags that double as outlook tasks if you want to set a reminder. You can
also make a column to track a "date of last action", and in a cell press
"ctrl-shift-d" to instantly drop in the datestamp.
