Need help setting up records for my store

Hello,
I just purchased Access to keep my records for my online store. What I
would like to do is enter the information from each sale (i.e. order #, date,
customer info, item no., method of shipping, payment, etc. I want to be able
to type this info in one time and have everything coordinated so that I can
print out a receipt, have the items purchased automatically deducted from my
inventory records, etc. At the present time, I have spreadsheets in Excel
that I use for these purposes. Right now, I enter info into one spreadsheet
as a customer receipt and print that. Then I have to go into my sales
spreadsheet and enter all the numbers once again. Then I go into my
inventory spreadsheet and deduct inventory, etc. I have never used Access
before but am a quick learner and do not think I will have a problem using it
once I am started in the right direction. I have used databases, forms, etc.
in Works a little in the past so I am sort of familiar with how they all

Take a look at the sample Northwind database that comes with Access. That
might get you started. Also take a look at some of the database templates.

Thanks! I've taken a look since you suggested it and it's close to what I am
wanting to do but how do I get all of THEIR info out of there? I want to
start with a clean slate, kwim?

First, let me say, that I am NO expert here so I hope I am not giving bad
advice. But, here is what I would do:

I would create a new blank db and then import all of the tables that I
wanted from the sampe. Just make sure when you import the tables, select
that you want to import "definition only" and not "definition and data."
This will import the tables, but they will not contain any data. Then you
can easily import any of the queries, forms, macros, etc. that you want from
the sample db and go from there.
