I bought a used computer from salvation army that has an admin password,
which I don't have. There's no way to get it, as the computer was a drop-off
donation. It's running windows 2000 pro. PLEASE help me!!

If you have the software (operating system, drivers, etc) I'd suggest
formatting the hard drive and reinstalling.

I'm not sure if I do, or not...I'm kinda new at this stuff. I don't have the
disks or anything like that. Could you walk me through what I need to do?
You'll be my new hero! Please respond soon, thanks in advance...Karma.

Unfortuately, without the disks, you're very limited in what you can do
without purchasing at the very least an Operating System. If you cannot find
Windows XP at an affordable cost, you should be able to purchase Windows 2000
for a relatively reasonable cost.
The next thing would be to perhaps contact the local high school or college
to inquire about hiring a student who would be able to perform the tasks
needed - formatting and reinstalling is not a job for a first-timer to do
alone.

BUMMER!!! Any ideas on where to go to get the 2000 cd for free or
cheaper?(giggle!) No, but low budget for real! Or maybe I could just use
one for a minute...like the library, or something? Thanks for your time, it
counts! :)

Have you tried eBay? One caveat however, be certain the CD is NOT A COPY -
there are plenty of people ready to take money for a burned copy of an OS
which may or may not be useable. Read all the fine print.
About 4 1/2 - 5 years ago, I purchased a copy of Windows 2K Pro from an eBay
store. It came sealed in the original cellophane with a valid key. They also
included a ribbon cable (apparently their agreement with Microsoft stipulated
that the operating system could only be shipped with hardware). The price at
the time $75 US
