Need Help w/Annoying Powerpoint Glitch

Andie

I have PowerPoint 2007 and my client has PowerPoint 2003. She has downloaded
the patch for compatibility, but when I send her a PowerPoint even saved as a
2003 the titles on her slides are pictures while they are text on my end.
How do we fix this. She can't make edits unless I make them for her.

Hi Andie,

That is because the titles you edit in PP 2007 isn't supported in PP
2003, so when you save the presentation as 2003, the titile is saved
as picture. If your client has PP 2007 installed on its computer, they
could edit the title. So there are two ways for you.
1. Change the font format of the text for the title
2. Download and send the MS Compatibility Pack for Office 2007, it
free to use. Just irecommend your client to nstall it on your his
computer; they can view and edit the 2007 presentation with no
difficulty.

BTW, if you want to make a product business presentation for your
client, you could refer to this demo:http://snipurl.com/presentation-
sample

Sorry Andie,

That's one of the limitations of PPTx and PPT. You can't go backward with
SmartArt or other text graphics.

Just to clarify, the compatibility pack will not necessarily make the text
editable in PPT 2003.

One thing I've noticed is that shadows generally work -- but they become the
old-style, hard-edged shadows instead of the nice new soft shadows PPT 2007
uses. I think the thinking was that a simple shadow shouldn't render your
text ineditable when the file is opened in 2003.

Other text effects -- like reflections, glows, bevels, etc. -- will indeed
make the text ineditable, though. Not sure about outlined text. Hm...I might
have to try that one specifically.

Just brain-dumpin'. :)

I concur. For what it's worth : ).

Just a followup -- outlined text also is not editable when opened in 2003.

And as for the new font settings available in the Font dialog, here's how
they translate:

2007 2003
all caps letters are capitalized, but additional text is not
small caps letters are all capitalized
equalize heights regular text
strikethrough image: text is not editable
double strikethrough impage: text is not editable

superscript and subscript work fine.

Dear Andie,

There is a work around for this: select all of the items within the SmartArt
work area (CTRL-A), Cut all the elements, then Paste the elements outside of
the SmartArt area (I'd delete the SmartArt frame first). The resulting
individual graphic elements are editable (text) in PowerPoint 2003 and older
(they actually appear as a group in older versions of PPT).
