Need help with charts in ppt 03

Hi everyone,

I am facing a unique problem in powerpoint 2003 whereby it does not
show the value or the name of an element within a chart when I place my
mouse over it. This is despite me having checked the two boxes in Tools
-> Options -> Charts tab -> show names & show values which appears when
you double click on the chart.

I have both 2003 and 2007 installed but am facing this issue only in
2003. I was also facing a separate issue in 2007 (was not able to insert
charts at all and it said that i should close all open excel books
before I could insert a chart in ppt 07 when no excel files were open)
which was solved by using Diagnose and Repair. Not sure if the two are
related.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Its a nightmare formatting
scatter charts without knowing which label is for which point.

Thanks a lot.

I am facing a unique problem in powerpoint 2003 whereby it does not
show the value or the name of an element within a chart when I place my
mouse over it.

I see this on newly created charts until I click once on an element within
the chart. After that, the tooltip shows the name of the element (as does
the list box, whatever it's called, on the charting toolbar.)

If that's not what you're seeing, it may be due to an interaction between
the two Office versions; MS doesn't recommend or support installing both
on the same PC.

I don't have a PC with both that I can test with but I know some of the
other regulars in the PowerPoint newsgroup do. You might want to pose the
same question there.
