We did a survey and put the responses in Excel (2003). Responses to questions
1-3 have a qualifier. In other words, the response either “Yes†or “No†is
based on a qualifier 1, 2, or 3. Here’s a sample of our tabulation
spreadsheet:
A B C D E
1 Q1 Q2 Q3 Tab
2 Joe Yes,1 No,3 Yes,1 No
3 Bill Yes,2 Yes,3 Yes,1 Yes
The final tabulation is “No†if “No,x†is listed in any of the 3 columns.
I want to enter a formula in the Tab column that will look for “No†in the 3
Q columns and if found in any will return “No†and if not found in any will
return “Yesâ€.
I’ve tried =IF(ISNUMBER(FIND(“Noâ€,B22))),â€Noâ€,â€Yesâ€) but it does not work.
It returns “Yes†for all rows. I’ve tried enclosing the formula in braces and
running as an array but that doesn’t work either.
Thanks for your help.
