Depends what you mean by "hard" and "soft." The general interpretation of
"soft" is "automatic," the line break or page break that Word inserts on its
own when a line or page is full.
* Enter inserts a paragraph break.
* If you want to end a line (but not a paragraph) before the line is full,
you can insert a line break using Shift+Enter.
* A "hard" (manual) page break is inserted with Ctrl+Enter or by formatting
a paragraph as "Page break before."
* You can also force Word to insert a "soft" page break by formatting one or
more paragraphs as "Keep with next."
