Need help with importing Outlook 2007 pst file into Outlook 2003

Hi,

Would like to know how to open/import an outlook 2007 pst file, into Outlook
2003. When I try to import/open, i get an error message that says the 2007's
..pst file is not compatible with the current version of the Personal Folders
information service, in Outlook 2003.

You dont generally Import a pst, within Outlook you open it.
If the pst is on removable media you may want to copy to the Documents
Folder of the PC, if you used a cd for the copy process, check the file
properties of the pst file and turn off the read only attribute, then open
it from within Outlook.
If there is still an err.msg, then likely the means of copying the pst
failed, eg you had outlook open when you copied the pst.

Hi DL,

Thanks for your post. I had tried to open from within Outlook, as well as
from the control panel, after ensuring the "Read-only" attribute is not set.
I had got the same error message.

I use Outlook 2003 on WindowsXP, while the .pst file was being used on
another Computer running Outlook 2007 on WinXP. I wanted to open that pst on
my Outlook 2003.

Let me know if you have any suggestions.

If you still have the origonal Outlook installation on the other PC, ensure
outlook is closed then copy the pst file(s) to a memory stick, then from
memory stick to the Documents Folder, then start Outlook and open them
within outlook.

If you burnt files to cd then your burning software, or the cd is causing
the problem.
The file format of the pst is the same in both 2003 & 2007, its only
versions earlier than 2003 that use a different file format for the date
file and cannot read pst's created using 2003 or 2007 format

In the second Outook, click Help>About. What do you see?
