Need help with pagination on complex document

S

Stormy

Hi:
I am completing my dissertation which is one document, multiple sections in
Word 2003 currently formatted in APA with the assistance of a template.

One of the final stages is to format according to university guidelines
which has a few variations from the standard APA pagination. The variations
are: no page number on titile page but page numbers at the beginning are
lower case Roman numeral, centered at bottom for such things as abstract,
signature page, etc.

Chapter 1 starts with Arabic numbers at 1, centered at bottom, yet page 2 is
upper right. Subsequent chapters would continue with the Arabic numbers,
with first page of chapter centerd at bottom.

An explanation of how to paginate this document would be greatly appreciated.

You need to break the document into sections. In each section you can have a
"first page" plus left and right pages, you set this up in the "page setup"
for each section. The "first page" can be set up to have page number at
bottom, the left and right to have them at upper right or left. You can
choose roman numerals or arabic numerals at any time, and restart numbering
with each section, or continue on from previous. Rest is in the help files.
