Need Help with WORD 2008 spacing

Judie

When I start a new document in Word 2008 there is an automatic 10 pt "space after" every line. In FORMAT>PARAGRAPH>SPACING you will see 0 pt before and 10 pt after. It is not like this in WORD 2004.

How can I set it so it's 0 pt "space after"? I can set it but it won't stay like that and I don't know where to go to set it as the default. I don't even know WHY it's doing this in the first place as it makes no sense.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

To change this in all documents created from now on, change the Normal
style.

First, select Format | Style. Normal should be selected.

Click on Modify--make sure "add to template" is CHECKED. You'll see a
Format menu in the bottom of the dialog--select Paragraph from it, and
change the Spacing: After setting from 10 to 0.
