Need help with Word TOC Frames. Doesn't work if shared w/ others

Have created a training document in Word that is rather lengthy. Would like
to utilize a Table of Contents using Frames so that readers could click on
Topic on left to jump to that section in the document and to navigate in
general. However, having major issues.
1- It doesn't work when I send it to others
2- It doesn't format with the headings (eg it picks up all headings, even
when I specify otherwise.)
PLEASE HELP!!!!
Thanks so much!

If you are using standard style names from the Normal.dot template, all the
formatting will revert to whatever the recipient's styles are. In order to
prevent this, create your own template and style names. Send the template
along with the final document to your end users. They can save the template
in their templates folder and that should solve the formatting problems.

As far as the navigation not working, are you sending to people with older
versions of Word? If so, they may not translate properly. Set Word to
disable features after Word 97 and regenerate the TOC. This should solve the
problems with versions of Word back to Word 97.

Maybe I made a mistake,,, my solution worked for this exact same problem with
MS Word 2003... All styles were saved in the Normal.dot template and we ran
into this error (the users' Normal.dot template styles reformatting the new
documents). However, perhaps you are using a different version. If so,
please ignore my suggestion.
