Yes, i tried that but if i change font it looks different. I guess i will
continue using images for that.

Try this what I did describe before, and it will looks almost same under
many fonts and size!

Do not choose character "L" like literal. You have special simbol "L"....

Why not:

Insert Table with one row and number of columns that you need for spaces
Then Select Table, Format Borders and remove the Top Line.
