Can one import merge data files from Wordperfect to Word? If so, how
is this done??

You can, but it's generally a bit "iffy".

Much better, if you still have access to WordPerfect is to set up a mail
merge in WordPerfect that places all the data fields into a delimited
format. Execute the merge, then save the result as a plain text file.
Word can then use this as a data file.

Example of delimited fôrmat:

[Field1][TAB][Field2][TAB][Field3]
