Need information re Printer drivers and Office 2000

Installed Office 2000 on my laptop and when I went into Word I noticed that
in Page Setup - Paper Sizes there was only Custom in the drop down list. I
have been informed that the paper sizes come from the Printer driver not XP.
I notice that in System - Device Manager - Ports - Printer Ports (LPT1) it
mentions a driver in there. Its a Windows one 5.1.2600.00. Should this not
be sufficient. I ahve a Canon i550x printer installed on my desktop
computer it has a CD with it for software etc. I presume there may be a
driver on there.

If this is a new installation of Office on your machine with an existing printer driver:
There may be a conflict with Office and your printer. Windows or Office apparently did not recoginze your driver and substituted a built in (Windows) for your printer
You may want to check on the Canon web site for an up-date to your current printer driver version. You could also uninstall your printer software and re-install.
We use HP printers and sometimes have to go thru this after performing some software updates
