Need live weblinks to work in my Word Document

I have an e mail that I saved that has a dozen live weblinks that link
directly to the sites. But when I pasted them into a word document, the
links are no longer live-- you click on them and nothing happens. Is there
anything I can do? Thanks!

I thought that Word would preserve hyperlinks from email but apparently not
(although it will preserve them in text copied from a webpage or other
sources). Here's your workaround:

First, go to Tools> AutoCorrect> AutoFormat As You Type and be sure
"Internet paths with hyperlinks" is checked. Now, paste in the text from
the email and retype all the links to make them active.

Sorry but I don't know any other way.

Thanks Beth!:
That was checked already.

What do you mean, retype all the links?

No, you don't have to go that far. Copy your links into Word, and repeat the
following procedure for each one: select your link, copy it, then hit Cmd+K.
This will bring up the hyperlink dialog where, in the Link to box, you can
paste your weblink. This should turn it into a live weblink. If you use
keystrokes for every one of these steps, you'll have it done in a matter of
seconds.

Oh, I forgot to mention another method you should try before following the
instructions I posted a few minutes ago: make sure your cursor is just
behind one of these text segments which are supposed to be hyperlinks, and
hit space; this should force AutoCorrect to format them into hyperlinks. You
can then hit backspace to clear the superfluous space and repeat this for
each hyperlink. If that doesn't work, try the method I posted earlier on.

Perfect! Works great. And I should have thought of your previous method
myself.

And yes, kevs, I meant retype all the links; but Michel's solution below is
the way to go.

Thanks Michael/Beth

Great stuff!:

While this is terrific, the ultimate would be for word just to offer option
to paste them and have them live right away -- but maybe one day...

And there is, sort of! Your post made me realise that there is one other
option which hasn't been mentioned up to this point (because I have
forgotten), and that's AutoFormat. First of all, go to Tools>AutoCorrect,
and select the fourth tab, AutoFormat. Make sure "Internet paths with
hyperlinks" is enabled. If you now go to Format>AutoFormat, Word will
automatically format your document and, because of your preferences in the
AutoCorrect window, automatically turn activate all the hyperlinks.
I rarely ever use AutoFormat, so that's why I didn't think of it earlier on,
but there you go, yet another method to create active hyperlinks. Note that
AutoFormat will also format the rest of your document, and you may not like
the result. If you only want to activate the hyperlinks, maybe you should
paste them into a new document, apply AutoFormat and then copy/paste them
into your existing document.

Thanks Michel:
Another great tip.

John, thanks. Did not even know about a web toolbar, but pulled it up, and
that method is very longwinded, so pass on that , but thanks for letting me
know it's there!

Beth, correct. From web, no problem. From e mail that had no live links.

Hi John,

The issue was always pasting from an email. Pasting from a browser was not
a problem in my tests; the hyperlinks remained live. Not so from an email.
