Need Major Help with Headings (styles and format)

OK, I consider myself about a mid-level user of Word and need some help!
I converted a pdf of a textbook (no copyright issues, it came from CK-12) and it looks great... Except "under the hood" it completely messed up the styles (headings...) I want to reset what word is considering Heading 1, 2, etc. without actually altering the document format. I'll post a picture below and then if someone is interested I can post part of the document.

Please help!
