Hi
Is it possible to use more than 30 custom text fields.
I would like to be able to add some new fields to my project eg.
text31 to txt40.

If not possible too add more does anyone hava a workaround?

I think you've hit the maximum. If you need more, suggest you consider
using the existing fields to hold more data. Invent some sort of data
model in which you insert data into the text fields with some sort of
format, e.g. separate by semi-columns, or even use something like XML or
something.

I guess it also kinda depends on what the purpose of the extra fields
are for. Perhaps you can elaborate on what you are trying to do and
maybe there can be some ideas offered on other solutions.

Nope 30 is the limit. However, you also have 20 Flag fields, 20 Number
fields, 10 Start/Finish/Duration/Cost fields. You should have plenty
depending on your needs.

For example if you have a custom Text field for "Old Budget Value" why not
make that a custom number or field? Or, if you have a group of tasks such as
"Impacted by Change Order #5" then use a Flag field (Yes/No) for that.

As an added tidbit, I would publish a list of your custom fields and their
purpose. Otherwise someone is going to come along and repurpose one of them
and that will send you off in a frenzy to correct that problem. I've had
some experience here... :)

If you move to Project Professional and Project Server you can have
unlimited custom fields.
It will be expensive though if you only need those additional fields.

There are often ways to use a single field to do multiple things. Flag
fields can also be used as substitutes for certain text fields.

If you post the list of things you need them for and the sort of data that
goes into them, perhaps we can suggest some improvement.

In addition to the other good comments, you could try and use them in a
more dynamic fashion so that you aren't trying to display all of the
information all of the time.

For example, you could write a macro which populated the fields the way
you wanted to view at any moment in time.
