Where is a good place to look for trainers that are up to speed on
Project Server 2007? Here is what we're in need of:
Background
Government agency of around 400 employees
Already have Project Server 2007 installed along with a test
environment
Need fairly quick overview (compare and contrast) of WSS 3.0, Project
Server 2007 and MOSS 2007 features (licensing?)
IT Dept (and eventually all departments) would like to start tracking
projects and proposals with specific security parameters:
· Administrators - IT people to administer the product (Josh and
Greg?)
· Clerk - Ability to view/update all projects including Gantt charts
(Mr. Shore)
· Directors - Ability to view all projects and Gantt charts but not
necessarily update them
· Project Managers - Ability to view/update projects and Gantt charts
on projects where they're the PM; ability for PMs to set up access for
Team Members to projects without assistance from IT Administrators
· Team Members - Ability to view/update projects on projects where
they're a Team Member
· All Employees - Ability to view list of project workspaces but not
actually view any project sites or Gantt charts
How to better organize the list of projects so users can quickly
locate them
An intuitive end-user interface is critical for us - users should be
able to find info with minimal effort or training
Submitting Proposals - we'd like to add some extra customized fields
including email notification
Need better understanding of
· Proposals vs. Activities
· Categories vs. Groups vs. Security Templates vs. Global Permissions
- best practices
· How Project Server determines what Sharepoint roles (Reader, etc.)
to automatically assign when a new project is published
Migration of existing projects without data loss
Backup/Restore methods - Best practices
Security - What rights are needed for each service? Don't want to use
Domain Admin.
How to set up Forms Authentication for users outside the domain
Possible use of "My Sites" feature for individualized pages so users
can have easy access to their job duties and projects
Web Part customization capabilities
Outlook plug-in so users can have their project tasks automatically
inserted into their Outlook Calendar (and also updated via Outlook)
Migration of Exchange Public Folders into SharePoint sites -
Microsoft's future roadmap
Templates - "Help Desk" and "IT Team Workspace" template capabilities
Time permitting
Overview of MOSS 2007:
· InfoPath integration for document workflow authorizations (authority
to travel, etc.) - Content Types, Workflow
· Records Management capabilities
· Report Center for BI and KPIs - low priority
