Need Password for Excel Spreadsheet

Hi everyone,

I purchased a set of spread sheet templates from the Internet. I paid full
price.

But I need to customize the templates. When I try to enter a new cell name
I get an ³unprotect sheet² window which asks for a password.

I asked the owner several times and they never responded. Does any one know
of
any hacks?

Email me for a sample.

Are you certain that a password was entered? I frequently protect
sheets for the sole purpose of preventing an "oops" but I never enter a
password. Simply go to "Unprotect Sheet" and see if you can
"unprotect" without actually entering a password.

If you paid with a credit card, contact the credit card company and
contest the charge. Then call the person that sold you the templates
and complain. Don't mention that you've 'stopped payment' on the
transaction. If you don't get a response in a week or so, send another
email requesting a full refund and that you've done a credit card
chargeback. Delete the templates from your system and look for another
solution.

I think it's up to the person who sold you the templates to solve this
problem for you.

Hi John-

Before you take any particular action, I would suggest that you confirm what
it was that you actually bought. Proprietary templates are frequently
Œlocked¹ and sold to be used Œas is¹. The developer prevents end-user
modification because if the user screws it up the developer would wind up
taking the flack. If the templates were not specifically advertised as being
customizable, you may have no recourse.

Rather than attempting to open & modify the template file, have you tried
generating a new file based on one of the templates to see if you can modify
the .xls? If so, you can then ŒSave As¹ an .xlt of your own based on the
original.

As for the vendor not responding, that is certainly not right, but is not
uncommon either. As suggested in one of the other replies, it might be worth
a phone call. Lots of outfits don¹t handle email very well... Especially if
it involves a problem.

Good Luck |:>)
