Need the "Total" of a defined Sequence Field

I have a document where I've setup a Sequence field to number various
sections throughout the document. This is fine.. I have X number of
total sections at the end.

However, I'd like for Word to automatically tell me what the highest
value is for this Sequence field.. and then be able to insert this
value at the beginning of each section.. so that I get something like..

Section 1 of 20
Section 2 of 20

but, if I add a section in the middle, I want everything to update
automatically so that I now have
Section 1 of 21
Section 2 of 21
etc...

I see many suggestions for page numbering.. but, those are using
built-in "pages" and "numpages" fields that I can't use in my
scenario.. (since there are about 50 pages for these 20 sections)...

Ok.. I seemed to have resolved my own problem.

I started by adding a Sequence Field at the end of the document, which
simply provided the value of the last sequence number.. ( \c )..
I then used that field and bookmarked it.. and then referenced the
bookmark throughout the document..

now, when i F9 the document.. .all the individual fields update.. which
causes the field at the end of the document to update to the last
sequence value.. and.. in-turn updates all the "total Sections"
throughout the document to the correct value..

Excellent! Better than the solution I was just about to suggest :)
